A Letter to Tibet Ⅱ
Tibet Won't Heal Me, But I Forgave Myself in Tibet
I’ve read two more pages of the book of Tibet.
It’s hard for me to describe my feelings for Tibet in words. Perhaps that’s why I set a goal for myself—to visit Tibet at least once a year. Here, I can temporarily relieve my stress and anxiety. Tibet is my sanctuary, a brief escape from reality, where I can experience the joy of disconnecting from the internet and immerse in a kind of pure happiness, as if my soul undergoes a unique form of spiritual purification.
Every year, when I enter Tibet, I always have a specific destination in mind. My first trip was to get acquainted with Tibet and experience the sacred Shenxiang Tiamen.
The second time, I embarked on the Ali circuit to see the places I had dreamed of—Mount Kailash, Lake Manasarovar, and the ancient Guge Kingdom. Along the way, the landscapes were breathtaking—towering mountains, snow-covered peaks, serene lakes, and abundant wildlife that I love so much.
The third time I entered Tibet, my goal was to see the Sacred Mountain of Sapukangri. From the outer lake, you can see the whole mountain, but to get closer, I decided to trek from the outer lake to the inner lake. It was about a 10-kilometer round trip, at an altitude of roughly 4,700 meters. I walked along the lakeshore, but the road was full of potholes and marshes, a primitive wild trail. Although I inevitably slipped, spraining my ankle and injuring myself, the moment I saw the sacred mountain up close, it all felt worthwhile.
At Sapukangri, I seemed to understand the poetry of Tao Yuanming and caught a glimpse of the world of Christopher Nolan. This land is filled with a deep sense of Zen, teaching me the essence of the Zen lifestyle—tranquility and harmony.
I never like to skim through landscapes. Whenever there’s an opportunity to explore up close, I choose to experience it with my body and soul. In Tibet, every Buddha statue contains profound meaning. Standing before these sacred relics, I feel an intangible force reminding me to live consciously, to be aware of every moment around me.
People often say, “You must go to Tibet twice. The first time, you leave your heart there, and the second time, you go to retrieve it.” But for me, no matter how many times I visit, the heart I left behind on my first visit seems to never fully return. Every time I come to Tibet, I’m still moved. There’s always an urgent desire to start a new journey. Even though I’m already in Tibet, I feel both a sense of unreality and an overwhelming familiarity.
Of course, each visit to Tibet feels entirely different. As I grow older and my mindset evolves, this time I felt a deep sense of “coming home”—so familiar that I didn’t even need navigation. Tibet brings a peace unlike anything else, as if all the pain and numbness from the past year vanish the moment I set foot on this land. Tibet has a special power that instantly quiets my mind, sometimes making me want to cry, to release all the negative energy accumulated over the year.
On my first two trips, Tibet filled me with curiosity and anticipation. But this time, as my outlook changed with age, I felt a profound spiritual awakening. In this vast land, I’m not just a traveler; I feel like a child returning to the embrace of home, experiencing the familiar and comforting warmth of Tibet’s presence.
This trip to Tibet, like always, brought me joy and fulfillment. Tibet is like a heavy book, one that takes years to read. Each time I turn a page, I discover new feelings, surprises, and a deeper sense of peace and holistic wellness. Sometimes, life’s pace needs to slow down, and the mind requires moments of rest and reflection. Here, through the use of meditation tools and meditation accessories, I found myself sinking into a calm state, engaging in deep meditation.
Tibet has also taught me an important lesson—how to maintain karma balance. Every mountain, every river, every prayer flag here reminds me that every action in life has an impact on the future. Through this journey, I’ve come to realize that wealth is not just about material possessions. Spiritual fulfillment is a kind of prosperity-enhancing product, helping me achieve inner richness and satisfaction.
Standing in the embrace of nature, far from the noise of the world, I experienced an indescribable sense of energy purification. It felt as though nature’s power was cleansing my soul, taking away all my exhaustion and worries. I’ve also learned to use various mindfulness products to maintain focus and awareness in everyday life, helping me better handle life’s challenges.
This journey has made me more certain about loving what I truly love. It has taught me how to wholeheartedly embrace every moment of life. This is Tibet, a mysterious and pure land. Though it won’t heal me, it has taught me how to forgive myself, and how to find peace within.
